Church membership
Why become a member of a local church?
If you are looking for a verse in the bible which says “you must be a member of a local church”- you will be disappointed. We believe that the bible assumes that a Christian is a member of a local church. In fact, we believe it would be almost impossible to be a Christian and not be a member of a local church.
How can a foot survive without being joined to the body?
We believe that a Christian grows as part of a local church.
As they follow the “one another” commands in the bible.
Promises that a member makes.
1. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9)
2. I have been baptised with water as a sign of God’s saving grace to me.
3. I devote myself to the teachings of the bible, the fellowship of this local church family, the regular partaking of the Lord’s supper and prayer (Acts 2:42)
4. I believe in one God in three persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
5. I acknowledge that I am under the care of the elders of this church as they exercise pastoral oversight.
6. I acknowledge the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit, who works in and through me, in order to keep these promises.
